At 4-H University, which was held at LSU in June, Chrystal Lachney placed 3rd in the Career Preparation contest and was recognized as a member of the Louisiana 4-H Executive Committee for the coming year. Summer Alsadi was elected as a regional representative to the Executive Committee.
Jill Ferguson was a blue ribbon winner in the Public Speaking contest and was recognized at the 4-H University banquet on June 17 as a finalist for the 2009 National 4-H Conference.
Other West Feliciana 4-H members who were blue ribbon winners in competitions at 4-H University were Lily Barber, Wildlife Habitat Evaluation, and Darcey Walsh, Photography.
Four-H members from West Feliciana Parish joined approximately 1,500 4-H youth from across the state for three days of competition, educational programs, campaigning and elections, motivational speakers, dances and more.
Delegates from West Feliciana were: Chrystal Lachney and Sarah Brian in the Career Preparation contest, Jessie Loyd and Darcey Walsh in the Photography contest , Summer Alsadi and Jill Ferguson in the Public Speaking competition, and Lily Barber and Marie Rider in the Wildlife Habitat Evaluation contest. Kelly Hughes participated in the “Exploring the World of Sports” Clover College seminar.
