The SAIL (Saving and Investing for Life) Program provides participants with the essentials of financial education. Having the proper tools to decipher important financial decisions will help residents improve their financial well-being and hopefully relieve any lingering financial stress that may carry over into the workplace.
In July and August, a series of four SAIL workshops took place in Washington & St. Tammany parishes with 85 people pre-registering for the classes and 59 completing the entire series.
The training covers six major topics including:
• Developing and using a savings and spending plan
• Finding money to save and invest
• Setting financial goals
• Understanding and selecting the best investment options
• Identifying appropriate help for financial management, and
• Avoiding investment fraud.
