Vernon Parish 4-H members recently brought home the Championship Saw from the State 4-H Woodsman Skills competition at the Louisiana Forestry Festival in Winnfield. Vernon Parish Senior 4-H members earn the opportunity to participate at State after being named a 1st or 2nd place winner in the “old time” forestry skills contests at the parish event which occurs during the West Louisiana Forestry Festival here in Leesville back in October.
Sponsors for this year’s Vernon Parish team include Iike Stevens of S&I Logging, Walsh Timber/WD Chips, and R&B Land and Timber to provide practice materials, t-shirts, travel and meals.
