| | | Vernon Parish 4-H Teen Leaders recently hauled over 700 pounds of aluminum tabs to the Ronald McDonald House in Monroe where the money raised will enable the house to purchase items such as cleaning supplies, food, or emergency items. The home works on a donation only basis and provides a bed for many with critical care family members in the hospital. |
| | Vernon Parish 4-H Teen Leaders have collected close to 700 pounds of aluminum tabs that were donated to the Ronald McDonald House in Monroe, Saturday, August 23, 2008. The tabs are recycled and the money is used for household expenses when donations do not cover the costs. This past summer 5 air conditioners had to be replaced in this particular home. Teens collected these tabs from 4-H clubs, schools, churches, and community citizens. Many were creative and involved other organizations such as many of the vendors at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo and the Louisiana Narcotics Conference. 4-H members from Cameron Parish also played a huge roll in the collection process by bringing their tabs to 4-H Camp during the summer camping program. This will be an ongoing project for many years to come and anyone wishing to collect and donate tabs may do so by bringing the tabs to the Vernon Parish 4-H Office or by contacting any 4-H Teen Leader or adult leader.
