Wednesday Volunteers - January meeting held at the home of Mary Lou Batty and co-hosted by Kathy Watkins. Seventeen members were present and all regular business was addressed. Members were reminded to work on getting signatures for Control Media Violence by Maureen Felder. Recycling was discussed reminding everyone that Zemurray Park has two days each year when old paint, tires, light bulbs, batteries and other recyclables are collected for a way to help to help protect our environment. Sue Nelson suggested that cans collected be taken to the recycle center by each member and the proceeds be given to the treasurer rather than trying to collect them and recycle them all at once. The group discussed the next bingo which will be held at the KC hall with the residents of Hammond Developmental Center, a service project done yearly. Mary Lou showed the quilt for which she won Best of Show at the Tangipahoa Fair. Submitted by: Mary Lou Batty, reporter.
