The Natchitoches Parish Family and Consumer Advisory Council Meeting was held on Tuesday, October 09, 2007 at the Natchitoches Parish Cooperative Extension Office.

Hubert Wilkerson, county agent of Natchitoches Parish AgCenter extension service, recently spoke at the Natchitoches Garden Club. Mr. Wilkerson gave them the history of the Land Grant Colleges and the extension service. He also told them about all the resources that the AgCenter has to help them.

Spring is in high gear with local farmers busy putting in their crops. Here, farmer Craig Puckett and County Agent Hubert Wilkerson are in the middle of planting a soybean test plot.

The Area Cookery Contest was held April 16, 2008 at the LA Technical College in Shreveport. Participants from Natchitoches Parish won nine awards.

Natchitoches Parish 4-H’ers attended Challenge Camp on February 21-23, 2008 in Bunkie, LA at the Louisiana Youth Educational Center.

Youth from Natchitoches Parish were among more than 75 4-H club members and volunteers participated in the annual 4-H Food & Fitness Camp held Feb. 23-24 at Camp Grant Walker.

Eleven people from Northwest Louisiana were inducted into the Louisiana 4-H Hall of Fame here on March 7 including two inductees from Natchitoches Parish, Rick Hargis and Idell Snowden.
