The Jeff Davis Parish Rice Growers Association will be sponsoring the 4-H Rice Cookery Contest this year on September 6, 2008 at 9:30 AM at Welsh Elementary School. This contest will be separate from the other foods contests held in November. September is National Rice Month and we wanted to emphasis this commodity and its importance to our local economy.
The rules and recipe sheet for this year’s contest are enclosed. Please fill free to copy the attached entry form for interested members.
The Jeff Davis Rice Growers Association will be sponsoring the rice cookery awards again this year. First place winners in the rice dishes will receive $10.00. The overall dish winner in each of the three categories will be invited to the Jeff Davis Rice Growers Annual Meeting on September 18, 2008 at the Welsh Firemen’s Hut.
