4-H in East Carroll Parish

Clipart for Power of 4-H

4-H is a club...a really big club! The 4-H club is the largest youth organization in the United States! Louisiana has over 85,000 4-H members in more than 1,700 clubs. There are more than 700 4-H members in East Carroll Parish participating in 13 different clubs that are organized in all the schools.

4-H participation provides youth a means of developing positive self-esteem and acquiring essential life skills; it is important that a wider variety of methods to be used reach more youth. East Carroll 4-H is a people oriented program promoting life and leadership skills, citizenship and family improvement through goal-setting and hands-on experiences. 4-H in East Carroll uses professionals and volunteers as positive role models to provide informal educational opportunities for the development of youth.

The vision of 4-H is to be recognized as flexible and focused in response to the diverse educational needs of the clientele and the community. 4-H programs teach life skills and the values necessary to develop independent and productive citizens. Educators and volunteers receive effective training which enables them to expand leadership roles in delivering programs.
