Professional Experience Dan Gill is a horticulturist with the LSU AgCenter, a position he has held since 1980. Before moving to Baton Rouge to take on statewide responsibilities, he was headquartered in New Orleans. While there, he became established as a reliable source of helpful, useful advice on lawn and garden topics through his media work. He is host of a live, weekly call-in show on New Orleans radio station, WSMB and is featured in weekly gardening segments on the Channel 4 Morning News Show. Readers of the New Orleans Times-Picayune have long benefited from his weekly column, called "The Weekend Gardener." Now people across Louisiana are receiving his advice in regular "Get It Growing" radio, television and newspaper stories.
Dan received a bachelor's and master's degree in horticulture from Louisiana State University. He has been recognized for his many horticultural achievements by such groups as the Louisiana Garden Club Federation, the Metro Area Horticulture Foundation and the LSU AgCenter.
